Card Grading Process...
To Consider: Grading and slabbing your card(s) not only gives you an idea of the current market value of that card, it protects it! Many collectors use this affordable service we offer to help decide if their card is worth submitting to the "larger" grading companies that cost much more but may bring a higher value to your card(s).
Pinpoint Grading, a service provided by CMB Collectibles, uses a 4 point, precise method to grade each card. Special lighting and precise card measurement, aligning these measurements with the year and brand (Topps, Panini, ect.) of each card, and magnification processes are used to evaluate all of the categories below, to make sure the card is original and not a reprint or false submission, and to make sure the cards have not been trimmed or altered in any way. Each card is examined front and back.
We currently only grade sports cards (and some gaming cards such as Pokemon) that have the measurements of 2.5in x 3.5in and smaller. We currently do not offer grading services for over sized cards, comics, magazines, ect.
We do not authenticate autographs of any kind including those on a sports card. We do however grade cards that have certified autographs on them and those autographs that were authenticated by the company producing them, such as Topps or Panini as two examples. These cards have certifications usually noted on the back of the card.

Each card we grade has a max potential grade of a GEM 10. This score can be given when:
Surface = 2.5
Borders = 2.5
Edges = 2.5
Corners = 2.5
Each final grade has another identifier with it:
-Authentic = Doesn't deserve a grade of even 1 OR can't be graded for whatever reason(s) noted. May have a mention of "altered" meaning the card is authentic and could have been trimmed, touched up, measured smaller than in should have, ect. Or, the owner of the card simply wanted it authenticated when submitting it and did not request a numerical grade.
-Good = Grades 1.0 - 4.5
-EX (Excellent) = Grades 5.0 - 7.5
-MINT = Grades 8.0 - 9.5
-GEM = GRADE 10!
Each card is assigned a specific catalog number unique to that specific card and assigned during the grading process. Each card is cataloged here on our website.

PLEASE NOTE: Graded cards are meant to be displayed and handled with care. As we grow and will soon be able to invest in custom made slabs (as well as advancements in our labels) we ask that you do not shake or unnecessarily invert the graded cards that are smaller than the more common 2.5in x 3.5in. While the slabs we use are factory designed to hold the cards in place, even magnetically, if they are a little smaller than the factory designed insert area, we have learned that they may move around some if they are not handled with care. This should in no way impact the edges or corners if they are handled properly. If you are unhappy with the grading presentation, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will happily re-slab the card for you at no charge. We make our card grading pricing simple and each card graded includes the overall grade AND the 4 "sub grades" broken down as noted above. We do not charge extra for sub grading. You can view images of the cards we have graded and get an idea of how your card will look when you receive it back from us by clicking on the catalog links above.
Option 1: Single card submission and up to 4 cards = $16.99 each.
Option 2: 5 or more cards submitted = $14.99 each. No max.
PLEASE NOTE: Since we do not charge for grading up front, any card(s) that are submitted and not paid for/picked up/shipping costs completed within 30 days of completion will be auctioned and sold so we can retrieve our fee's for grading them PLUS a commission of 15% for the time and effort of selling them. If the card(s) sell for more than what is owed, you will be notified and paid the difference. Thank you.
Submissions and Process:
-Each submission must include our submission form that you can download at the bottom of this page.
-You are responsible for shipping your card to us, the cost associated with this, and we recommend you use a method that has insurance and tracking. Please use a top loader or sleeves like Beckett Shield, ect. Please note: Whatever you send your card in will not be returned to you.
-We do NOT charge you for grading your cards ahead of time. Yes, you read the right. We only charge you a flat shipping rate up front once we receive your cards and they arrive here safely. We do this just in case your shipment was lost or damaged when sending them to us and you decide you want them sent back to you without grading them. We require you provide us with your email address and other information on the form to cover the return shipping fee of right around $9.00. This fee will cover quite a few graded, slabbed cards with insurance through USPS. If your submission quantity requires a higher rate to ship the cards back to you as it is volume/weight based, we will contact you ahead of time and charge your chosen method of payment accordingly. You will receive a secure link, via email, to pay this return shipping fee up front through our secure Square payment method. It will arrive from: CMB Collectibles.
- Once we receive your cards and order request/info/submission form, we will take photos and assign an order number and email you a confirmation of receipt of your items. This will all be included in the return shipping fee email. Our turn-around time to get them in the mail and headed back to you is 10 business days, or two weeks unless Holidays impact this estimate. Your shipment will be dropped in the mail and headed back to you, with tracking and insurance, no later than 10 business days. If we fail this process, your next card will be graded for free. We only ship through the USPS. Any shipping delays on their end we can't control. We will email you when your cards are dropped off and shipped back and provide you with a tracking number.
- We require credit card payment for our grading services. We will charge this card and send you a receipt via email 48 hours before we ship the cards back and once they have been graded. Cards will not be shipped back until this transaction clears. You will be able to see the card and its grade online and in our catalog as it will be listed there within 7 days of mailing them back to you. You will see a total of 2 credit card charges from CMB Collectibles, one for the shipping charges when we receive your order, and the second one for the grading fee's just before they are shipped back.
- All of your cards are covered by our business insurance while in our location. They are not covered outside of the Priority Mail / USPS insurance provided once they are mailed back to you. Any issues with return shipment (lost, damaged or stolen packages) we will work with you and the USPS to correct.
- Once you pay the return shipping fee charged up front and as mentioned above, you are also consenting to us grading the card and slabbing it. This can't be reversed or then cancelled. The grade assigned is an opinion provided by CMB Collectibles and/or their employees. The grade assigned may be better or worse than you thought. The fee's are what they are and the card will be graded, slabbed and sleeved as our images show. There are no refunds, exchanges or cancellations at this point or beyond. All sales and services/charges are final.
